Mount Eddy Backpacking

Backpack through the Trinity National Forest and Connect with the land.

About this program

Join us for a trip leaving from the Headwaters property into the Trinity National Forrest! With beautiful alpine lakes, ridges and plant life. This trip is the greatest way to kick off the Summer season! A class that was previously provided to our apprentices and work interns is now open to the public! We will walk off the land and head up into the trinites where we will camp by a beautiful lake. There will be fishing and swimming along the way. We will then head out and head to the peak of Mount Eddy with a stunning view of the surrounding lands! We will then head down to a group of lakes called Deadfall lakes where we will spend a couple days enjoying the beauty!

Previous backpacking expereince is required: This trip is considered an intermediate course - we will be off trail backpacking on some rough terrain.
* There is a chance of snowy and rocky terrain*

What people are saying:

Giving the children a chance to step away from the home environment, school hopefully being a part of the sense of "home" as well, and to be in a stunning natural setting, such as the one in Shasta that they visit, to sleep in the kinds of homes that our ancient ancestors slept in, and to feel the Earth under their bodies...it is an "earthing" process so to speak...an orientation process...feeling one with nature, feeling one with the universe as the child feels their own uniqueness and often loneliness in the vastness of the everything.
