Nature Retreat
.avif)
Our land has been compared to the beauty of our National Parks without the crowds. Headwaters is an intimate setting at the base of the Eddies Mountain range bordering the Shasta-Trinity Forest.
We have set aside days for those who would like to enjoy their time on our land without a scheduled class. This unstructured time is a gift you can give yourself to rejuvenate and soak up all of what nature has to give you. Enjoying your time in solitude or in quality time with friends and family is up to you.
During this week there will be less activity on the land than any other time during our regularly scheduled class times. You can choose which days you would like to stay. If this particular week doesn’t work for your schedule, you can contact us and ask when another good time might be that works for your schedule and ours. Keep in mind any other week there will be a lot more activity going on in camp during your stay.
We will provide Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner during your stay, unless you choose otherwise. Contact us to ask about Family Rates.
Some activities or non-activities available are hiking, dipping in our creeks, hanging out in hammocks, crafting, climbing our sacred, elder trees, wandering in our gardens, roasting marshmallows, or enjoying our sauna. Create your own down time!
We are fortunate to be located in the center of an abundance of accessible and remote nature-based excursions. Self-guided off-site day trip activities may include, hiking on Mt. Shasta, exploring lava tube caves, swimming in lakes and waterfalls, fishing or river rafting.
What people are saying:
This trip is both wonderful and challenging for 4th graders. They sleep under the stars in a shelter they built, jump into mud puddles, swim in cool water, hike through dark caves and forests, and do it all as a tribe. I cannot stress how important these trips are for the children to embark on together. During the New Village journey, there will be many more trips like this that allow our students to develop flexibility and grit. Experiences like these help them grow as individuals and as a class.
