Starting the New Year at Headwaters Outdoor School

Tim Corcoran, Founder Headwaters Outdoor School

I'm sitting here by our pond at Headwaters Outdoor School. It’s January 3rd, 2012 and this is going to be the first of many blogs that I'm going to be adding to our website. The land right now is incredibly beautiful. All around me the sun is shining down upon the water, the trees, and the grass, and I look around and I realize that my dream from my childhood came true. This land I dreamed of since I was nine years old, this land I dreamed of my whole childhood, this land I never knew how I would get it, in fact this land I thought was in Alaska or Canada when I was young.

Go to the woods.

Sit by a tree.
Climb the tree.
See the land as the tree sees it.
Become the tree.

Nature fills our hearts.
Nature fills our souls.
Nature fills our minds.
Nature is what is real in life.

Tim on Headwaters

Headwaters Outdoor School operates on two levels. It is a school for anyone interested in learning traditional earth skills such as fire making with a bow drill, how to build an earth shelter in summer or winter, identification of edible plants and many other earth skills. The school also has earth philosophy and nature awareness classes that connect the student with the wonders of the natural world through meditations in their chosen sacred nature spots and other exercises that create a deeper connection with the environment and ultimately within them.
