Headwaters Outdoor School

Welcome to Headwaters Outdoor School

At Headwaters Outdoor School in Northern California we teach primitive skills Earth People have used throughout time to survive in kinship with the Earth. Skills include Wilderness Survival, Tracking, Edible and Medicinal Plants, Nature Awareness, Earth Philosophy and many others. We also offer custom classes for schools, groups, and individuals. Class locations are in areas chosen for their abundance of wildlife, creeks, meadows, forests and spectacular views. Come back to Nature and discover a whole new world before you. Join us for a class today.

Calling all artists and not so arty artists. We are asking for submissions for 2 t-shirt designs for the school. The t-shirts are way for us to fund our 501(c)(3) non-profit – The Walker/Hupp Fund through Upper Reaches.

The first is NATURE MATTERS. For those who have spent time at Headwaters you know that Tim is an earth caretaker and his message has been and will always be “nature matters.” Let’s memorialize that on t-shirts for friends, family and strangers to see.

What is an Earth Caretaker?

What is an Earth Caretaker?

What is the purpose of humans on planet earth? Why are we here? I’ve asked this question for most of my life as so many others also have. Certainly we wonder about our purpose as it applies to our work in life. Raising children, doing what we love and on and on. All of these things are vital to our mental, physical and spiritual growth.

Looking at 2016 and Beyond

Headwaters 2017 Newsletter

The land is as beautiful as ever. We’ve been blessed with abundant rain this fall and snow in the mountains. Animals have been thriving all over the land as the land rests and recuperates from a busy year. We’ve had visits from countless migrating birds, toads, frogs, deer, fishers, weasels, skunks, fox, coyotes, bear, bobcats and mountain lions. We had an enormous bob cat kill a deer on the land this fall and all kinds of visitors passing through have cleaned up the remains.
